Roy Halladay Traded to the Phillies
SI.com is reporting that Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay has been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies. The rumoured deal was part of a three-team trade that also involved the Seattle Mariners. According to another source former Cy Young winner Cliff Lee would be moved to Seattle and Toronto would get highly regarded Mariners pitching prospect Phillippe Aumont, Phillies catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud and another Phillies prospect in exchange for Halladay. Indications are that the Phillies have balked at Toronto's repeated requests for outfielder Domonic Brown, and the Phillies are offering highly touted outfielder Michael Taylor instead.
Seattle would send two additional prospects to Philadelphia in exchange for Lee, who is a year away from free agency.

OK, so scratch that idea. Halladay signed a 3 year extension with the Phils for 15.75-per. Let the hand-wringing begin.Timbo Daddy wrote on Dec 15, 2009
We won't see the likes of Doc here again. Thanks for being committed to The Jays, even when it seemed they weren't reciprocating. I hope you get the playoff run you sorely deserve. As for the return, time will tell, but on the surface it doesn't look like much was received. I wonder if Halladay hasn't committed to an extension yet. Perhaps that's why Toronto got a rather thin package in return. Just food for thought...AmericanFan wrote on Dec 15, 2009
I'm not a Jays fan, but from the inside looking out I shake my head in disgust as this team is handed from one dysfunctional GM to the next handing over Doc and cash for Phils/M's prospects that may or may not work out. Apparently the Jays forget that they play in the toughest division in baseball and if they want to truly succeed, they need more than bit players, they need stars and Doc was their only one.SPTO wrote on Dec 15, 2009
Roy Halladay was my favorite Blue Jay ever. The man was the single greatest player to ever put on a Blue Jay uniform IMO. I'll truly miss him and I don't blame him for wanting to leave town. Someone can only take losing for so long until it's too much. I'm going to be a Phillies fan for as long as Roy is there and I sure as heck hope gets a chance at a World Series title. One bright thing about this other then the fact that Roy will get a chance at the ring is that he'll finally get due recognition in the US for being such a great pitcher. He will always have a warm spot in my heart. One of the classiest guys to ever play in our fair city. Good luck Royniner wrote on Dec 15, 2009
DOC, Is gone, it's time to look at the future, there is an unsigned pitcher that the bluejays need, Justin Duchscherer, he is going to be a good one. Ask pitching coach Bob Elliott. NINERCarloskie wrote on Dec 14, 2009
If true, we have lost the best, most respected, most focused player the Jays have ever had. He showed up every time his turn came - no excuses. I'll miss that competitive glare from the mound. The evil empire and the Bosox must be sighing with relief. Thank gawd he's not one of them. I will become a Phillies fan and I expect so will a lot of others. I detect Gillick's hand in this deal and that's OK. The Jays loss is the Phillies gain. Fair value is never received in a trade for a super star - ask Pedro M and Johann S. So long, Doc, best of luck and I hope you win a World series.YukonSloMo wrote on Dec 14, 2009
A sad day for baseball in Toronto and even sadder day for Toronto fans...MERCI DOC!
